Is the Stihl HD2 filter a downgrade from the standard Stihl HD filter? Hmm....

I guess the Amish view of "technology is evil" probably has something to do with the way they treat their modern tools or they just don't know any better...

We have a faction of the amish around my parts , meningitis I believe they are called. They use power equipment and drive cars. Funny thing to see a brand new duramax gmc loaded with leather (with the radio removed) are you kidding me. At least they get to have heated seats !!!!! They are all contractors with nothing more than a 6th grade schooling . But work like nothing I've seen and they may say 5 words all day, a bunch did a addition on my buddy's house it was great to watch. These guys work from sun up to sunset and don't slow down. My buddy was joking he would tx me and say its was only a 3 hammer day. They would break hammers like they where made of glass

lt would be interesting to know how many times in the 11months the filter was cleaned. My guess is if he sent it the shop with the filter looking like that he probably did'nt pay much attention to it at all and certainly not clean it daily. lMO the HD2 filters are as good as you can get but neglect & abuse will destroy most things. l could only imagine what that saw would be like had it not been fitted with a HD2. Looked pretty good for 11months of fulltime use without a clean. Often products get the blame & rarely do its operators.

We have two out of 5, 441's with the HD2 filters and both broke. Maybe were not gentle enough with them but all the others are fine. I don't care how much better it filters, if it falls apart its no good to any saw.

The top and bottom come apart from that filter WAY too easy. I don't know if banged would really be the word but yep tapping them out is one thing they cannot handle. In my opinion that's too flimsy for something that needs to be removed and cleaned over and over.

Some Amish treat their horses like their saws. Destroy a horse with 2 years of abuse and neglect instead of getting 10-15 years of use. Doesn't make any sense to my frugal self.

I must have got a good filter i recently switch my 660 over to HD 2. No signs of ripping at all and i do tap it clean between blowing it out. I hate the way people don't take care of saws. Yes i do run mine alot at times but they are always there for me. The least i can do is keep them sharp 93 octane synthetic oil clean the air filter and new plugs fuel filter when necessary. I always say if you meet a tool half way it will take care of you

I think the filters have gotten better AND they drastically reduced the price at the beginning of the year.
