ncrile, I am totally pulling for you to get this awesome saw going. Great to see the pics. It will help in getting mine figured out too.

Can you help me with tips on how you split the cases? I have seen non stuffer crank ones done with a tool, and others with heat and hammers etc. How do you recommend doing these 051-076 types?
Hey there. Remove clutch, flywheel, Cylinder, piston. I use the knock off husky case splitter sold by HL Supply. Unscrew all your case screws, punch through the alignment pins, it works great. There are many threads here that cover splitting 076 cases.

Also, I did a little research on the PTO side bearing. The NJ204 (20 ID x 47 OD x 14 W) will not fit MY 051 crank (27 ID x 40 OD x 10 W). It might fit other 051, 075 and 076 models HOWEVER it will not fit MINE.

Sorry it's taken me a bit to reply. Life is getting in the way of hobbies. I guess I need some prioritizing.

Yes after you said no inner race I figured it wouldn’t work. If you had Regular ball crankshaft 050 to 076 that bearing would fit and maybe a nu 204 bearing might be better, that bearing is a floating style no shoulder

Hey guys!

I would like to ask if someone tried fitting a modern crankshaft on an early 050 crankcase fitted with roller bearings? The crank sizes for the early and modern crankshaft are different since the early one uses the roller bearings on the clutch side. Thanks very much.

YUP! you are correct! I cut and pasted the seal number (good thing this is not a permanent record). Sorry and thanks for pointing that out. I did find the bearing and bought it on Ebay (yes, I paid too much) The SKF NJ 204 does look like the correct dimensions (27 ID x 40 OD x 10 W) and I will be trying that bearing in the future (thanks Kanscruzer)!
Can you send a link from where you purchased the roller bearing? Thanks very much.
