On a side note, if that's a toyToy be careful with storing it in a building of any kind
4 years ago my Toyota I used for same purpose caught on fire( totalled)
I was thinking of storing it in my detatched building a few days before it burnt up( luckily I hadn't got that part of barn cleared out b/c it would have took my 30' by 100' building with it) including all my dad's old wood working power tools...fire department said it looked to be a pinched wire under hood
I had run it pretty hard through woods to get back to a maple I was milling, but nothing that I thought would damage anything...
Just an FYI
I'll post pictures if I can find them, it was a 1991 Toyota 4*4 stick shift that I soley used off road...lucki lu I didn't pay much for it as it had 200,000 miles on it

Took forever, felt like 15 minutes. Chain looks sharp but maybe not. Took down the rakers today, they were a touch high. Did a thick 4” slab. I’ll plane it down soon

I've always found that oak smells like old guy at the nursing home when you cut it. Definitely has a distinct smell, at least the stuff around me.

I think hickory is also used as bats. I give it a try. Much easier to cut then oak, and lighter

Maple is used for bats too.
But far more, both Ash and Hickory have long been used for tool handles.

It was a very rusty 2 1/4 pound boys ax. I think the handle is about 21".

Nice find and nice job restoring it.
The pitting actually looks kinda cool.
Good idea to make it into a toy though...I like.
