Christian based company seeking like minded ISA certified arborist to relocate to the Northwestern portion of Wyoming (Worland, Cody, Powell, East of Yellowstone National Park. Full time position - 22-25K per year to start plus health, life, educational opportunities. Commission will be added to the base salary if you help us exceed our sales goals. 2-5K annual raise during the first two years. Call 800-773-8873 for more info.

I think 22-25 is a little low especialy if you want an experianced CA. $15/hr is 31,200/annum.

Also you want to check labor laws, if they are managing less then 51% (? i think) of the time they must be wage employees with time and a half.

Turf, I will tell you what... I will go and work for you for that price. I don't like your pay schedule though. I am willing to work for you for 3 installments during the course of a year of 22K. I also want a full benefits package. This is right out of school. That is typical. Right out of school with a 2 year degree in any green industry field one should fetch at least $55K per year with a nice benefits package. With a 4 year degree right out of school one should expect to get at least $75K per year. I think you had best do some recalculations of what you are willing to pay. For what you want to pay you will be lucky to get a good part time climber.

Turf,
I realize this may be your budjet, but JPS was trying to help. It will be unrealistic to figure you are gonna find somebody at that price. I know guys right out of college with a 2 year degree get over 30,000. You offering a good benefits package which is necessary when you are a climber:D . I know these guys may (are) opinionated but thats only to help. If you can find somone to risk their lives for 10 bucks an hour let me know. People that are reading this thread that are looking for a job. If you are interested in this job, but are worried about salaries, etc., make sure you still contact them. People who don't ask, get nowhere. This sounds like a pretty cool place to live. Yellowstone park!!! Awesome. If I wasnt tied down here, I would be gone, but not for that price.:alien: Good luck Turf, and don't take recommendations so hard, this is a forum full of opionions, if you post on ArboristSite, expect it. Its all in good faith.

I've worked as a climber for several years. Most of my groundmen made $10 per hour. That was for no certification, no climbing skills, marginal saw skills and usually no CDL license.
As a certified arborist, climber, foreman and CDL 'B' driver I expect $15 or better per hour to start. When I injured my back last summer I was making $150 per DAY to run a crew, etc. That's over $18 per hour. Most who pay groundsman wages for a climber usually get what they pay for.

Wow,
Please direct me to the companies that pay this kind of money. With my two year degree, 17 years of experience, and my certifications/licenses I should be worth at least $150k.

Help Wanted in Wyoming

Now that I seem to have everyone's attention.

Out here in Wyoming wages are lower than the national average overall, but so is the cost of living. We don't have to worry about terrorist, high blood pressure or traffic that turns the freeway into a 6 lane parking lot unless you count stopping for a herd of Antelope to cross the road or the slow driving through a cattle drive down the middle of the highway!. It takes less than 3 minutes to drive anywhere in a town that you might live in(most communities are less than 5,000 population). Everyone waves to everyone else and the churches that can help install values in your children are strong.

It's a trade off to live and work in Wyoming. You can buy a 4 bedroom house (2000 ft2 ) for less than $50,000. I have had friends that came out from the east coast to hunt big game for a week and it cost them $5,000 dollars each. Bird hunting is on the rise and where else can you stalk the Blue Grouse. I fly fish every week because the mountain stream is 20 minutes away. I take my wife and children hiking throughout the summer where we consistently view Moose, Elk, Bison, Deer, Turkey, Chipmunks (the kids love to feed them!) And if your lucky you will also view Mountain Lion and Grizzly Bears. I love to sit with my wife in a high alpine meadow and watch my little girls chase butterflies in the crisp, clear, cool mountain air.

I won't pay for someone's summer vacation but if you're worth your weight and help us to succeed, are willing to pay your dues for the first year, you will have the inside tract to making a very good living, doing what you love in an area that most will only dream of.

I have a four year Degree in Forestry (CSU), am Certified (ISA)and practice as a Consulting Arborist (ASCA), my Division Manager has a four year Degree in Forestry from Colorado State and is also ISA Certified. We will even take an Uncertified Arborist under our wings and train you in the ways of the trade, educate you in the "Body Language of Trees", then pay for you to take the ISA exam.

I'm sure there are some Arborists out there that are stressed out from overpopulation and fear for their families safety. Maybe you have always wanted to live in the Old West amidst the Mountains. I run my business using Christian ethics, treat my staff with respect and offer one of the most Professional working environments found anywhere in Wyoming.

Does this sound like you? Call Todd or Wayne at Green Turf Lawnscapes, Inc / Wyoming Tree Experts. 307-347-8633.

Turf, have you tried putting an add in TCI? I think that may be a bit more helpful that going on here, due to the larger clientelle base. Just food for thought-

My burst. You are looking to fill second climber positions. I read it like you were looking for topman forman types.

Get a hold of Tim Walsh of the NAA. He is still running the SSA program and can get your name out to all the schools that are members. Sounds like a good gig to be starting with.

Hey 82 "should expect $75k"!! Come on now, Most guys running their own Biz don't pull that down for at least a few years <g>. Good thing you're working for yourself.:D

(I'm joking dude! don't go balistic! Deep breaths...)

Oakdancer, There is a woman behind every tree, especially out east of town toward Ten Sleep.

Of course as I remember it, there aren't many trees out that way.

Really though, Todd has contacted our school several times and I think I even had a student visit with him last spring, but we haven't clicked yet. It is a nice town, I stopped there on vacation in the late 70's for the night. Then went to the Remington museum in Cody on way to Yellowstone. Sounds like a good opportunity for someone. I will second the comments on wages and costs, it goes for ND also, except the wages for instructors is even lower in ND. He is offering starting wages for college instructors with a masters degree.

Good luck to all. Bob
