As long as you have wood. As long as it's no colder than 30F and no warmer than 50f than that means it's all good. Good working conditions. Snub your nose at the cold and storm.

start little by little. replace windows first. makes a HUGE diff!! then get them walls insulated.. if your going to replace the siding, put on3/4 hardboard foam, tongue and groove,, and tape the seams., before siding is put on... ny house now,, is waaaaayy quieter, and my wood consumption dropped 60%!!!!!!!!Not if you live my house. Tiny insert plus leaky Victorian style house equals many cold nights/days lol

do like some do around here. just before winter,,they wrap the whole house in tyvek or the equivelant....I have a ghetto setup right now lol. Just wanted to see what it would do so I put plastic sheeting over all the windows and secured it with duct tape. I put duct tape over the front door's gaps to keep out the draft. It helped a bit but the insert still really struggled. I may try those insulating curtains next winter and I'm going to go OCD on a IR thermometer to find leaks.
