Anybody share the view that attending this conference in Montreal is a little on the pricy side, especially if you only want to spend a day socializing? My boss dismissed the idea of going at all given the $$$$$$$ involved and the fact we are busy as all get out at this time of year, and we are less than two hours away. I would have enjoyed a day there but certainly not for $75 and the loss of my day in wages. I think someone has missed the boat-a trade show should be free or of minimal cost to get in to-fine I understand lectures etc are involved during the week, but the Sunday only charges are out of sync too, especially this is a long weekend in most of Canada, except Quebec and I can and will be elsewhere having a much better time with my $75 than in downtown Montreal.

My 2 cents.

picture this, live in Canada, work in Canada, go to convention in Canada, pay US dollars to attend aforementioned conference. for exchange rate please take US $ and multiply by 1.5 for rough estimate. sorry, no can afford to go.

Early registration cost is $52 CDN for members.

Unless you attend the Opening Reception, there's no cost. Since the ITCC is out doors in a park, I've never seen any inforcement of name badges. It would be a shame for people to not attend at least the ITCC on Saturday and Sunday.

I agree, but obviously more than one person up here thinks the cost is a little steep, and I do not think it being on a long weekend helps either...people would rather be relaxing given the choice.

If you go out on Sunday you will see most ot the small grear vendors and see all the climbing. Most of the diehard climbing freeks will be there too, weather they are in the ITCC or just hanging out. I've made most of them in the past 4 years or so. Don't know if i will be able to make this one by the way the year is shaping up. I'll have to see what the airline fees are and hook up with someone in an aout of the way hotel. Rental van Tom?

How often do we have the international in Canada "eh" Ten years ago it was in Nova Scotia. I am going even on the holiday and am using vacation to go. You are only two hours away. The ITCC is outdoors and I don't think the crowd will know you didn't pay to be there. Come anyway. We can hook up for lunch. I may even pick up the bill for the hotdogs.

How could you not want to be there. A long weekend in Montreal has to be the best. Think of it, tree crazy fanatics, knowledge galour, networking and the best of all, beautiful women. For those of you that don't know, Montreal women are incredible, something about them (no not the accent) is enitrely different then other women.

I think anybody within a four hour drive of Montreal would be crazy not to attend at least the climbing day.

Are you talking about monetary cost or opportunity costs. Think about the differences.

Compare your opportunity costs of getting to this conference to the next three: Pittsbur, Nashville, Minneapolis.

Education costs, no question. You have to ask if the value is equal to the cost. Sounds like you'd rather be hanging out that weekend.

What's the complaint about a long weekend? Is there a special holiday in Canada that I'm not aware of? Or, do you think that the whole conference should be during the week? This has been the schedule, with the TCC on the weekend, for as long as I remember.

Getting to the ITCC isn't going to cost you any money...so what's the beef about the cost?

I just checked airline rates on Orbitz and round trip from MKE is $266.

Hotwire came up with a (US$)
37/night hotel in Brossard **
80/night in Longueuil***
96/downtown***1/2
