California took another step toward its goal of ridding the state of all gas-powered engines thanks to a new bill signed by Gov. Newsom on Saturday.

The new law will ban the sale of all off-road gas-powered engines, including pressure washers, generators, lawn mowers, chainsaws and weed trimmers. Under the new law, these machines must be zero-emissions, meaning they will have to be either battery-powered or plug-in.

The new rule will be implemented by January 2024, or as soon as regulators determine is "feasible," whichever date is later. The California Air Resources Board has already started working on executing the law.
Glad I live in Pennsylvania. ain't nobody taking my saws away 😂

Just remember.... You voted them in there....if you don't like it, VOTE THEM OUT or live with it!
One good way is to change your party status from D or R to Independent. When they ask why, tell them! They don't like not being able to count on your vote.

Me either. It was nice to use all four of them the other day.
Was out yesterday using a Husky 350 and a Husky 460, had my Stihl ms 440 Mag along, just in case! I take out different saws e ery time I go cutting, depending on the needs anticipated. My old 96 Chevy Silverado hauled a heavy load of green oak home for next year's stash!

Awesome!

Back on topic, several of my friends have mentioned that they're going to load up on gas powered tools while they can. Since they're homeowners, their purchases will likely last them a long time.

Shoot I love my battery electric stuff for my homeowner needs. You couldn't give me a gas powered string trimmer now.

As soon as an electric whatever is the best choice for the job, people will move on their own. It won't have to be legislated. Same with cars and anything else you want to name. Some people still like riding horses. Let people have that choice.

Central planning screws up just about everything it touches.
Ding, ding, that sums it up. That's how capitalism works, when electric is the most efficient/cheapest way to go then I'll jump on the bandwagon. It's really that simple, don't need stupid leftist forcing it on me before it's practical to do so.

you bunch of dinosaurs :)
batteries powered by renewables is ONLY solution we have, look at norway with 75% electric cars, powered by renewables, and look at their high gdp and lack of debt
"you dont know what you have got till its gone"
how long have you been brain dead????

Is there electric battery powdered saws that would cut my giant 5’ at the base ash trees?

California started the semi auto gun **** and it’s spreading to other states faster than a wild fire, this electric **** will spread faster than covid.

I think climate change is the earths natural cycle.

Why put the word battery in this sentence? You want to mill them in the milling section. 240 volts AC should be more sensible?

All the marketed battery chainsaws seem to be in the 6 tooth 3/8lp size currently. Ford has a 1400 hp demo mustang for smoke shows. It is not a stretch to think five feet of bar could be driven by a battery device especially where the batteries don't need carried much if at all.

Ya we can plug it into the nearest tree right, if we only listened to Tesla the power is all around us we need to harness it. Then we wouldn’t be to far from the jetsons, lol

I bought a 240v chainsaw the other day off the classifieds for $20, for noodling up unsplittable firewood rounds that have knots, branches, etc. The thing is advertised to have 2000w.
This thing is impressive! With a sharp 3/8lp chain and 16" bar it melts through oak and some of the softer eucalyptus. It's OK have a cord because my wood stack is only a couple of metres from the garage.
It's so much better than any battery powered saw I've used and easily cuts with a 40cc petrol saw.20211114_172345.jpg
