yep even applys to chain saws. i bought a littlle super 2 this morning . it ran good but wasnt sure it was oilin so i reved it a bit and sure nuff shes oiling. anyway i go about my buisiness and when i get home
take a look to see what the chain needed. get it rite an go to crank it..
shes so siezed up that i broke the plastic thingees on the recoil .. the part that engages the motor... im thinking,, what the ------.
im real confused . then just happen to check the gas.. pure gas,no mix.. im sure its cause the dummy that sold it to me didnt know they needed anything but strait gas.he was probably sellin it for somebody. go figure. the sad pts is the fellow who owned the saws had a real solid bigger tanaka along with some other 2 cycle equipment...if this guy put gas in all of it. gonna be one more mad saw owner. but its his fault... i guess in a strange way my loss is my fault. . but who woulda figured. it was just that saws time.:)

tanaka

Maybe the pre-mix was old or the saw was set too lean? With that little running, there's probably very little damage to the cylinder. Maybe a quick honing and she'll be ready to go.

What's that "bigger tanaka" thing you refered to?

i couldnt find the cc on it. but it was a18 inch and heavy . real well maintained.
it be the one i woulda got ,if i didnt already have all the saws i need. he only wanted an hundred for it. but ill say this about it . i know very little about tanaka,
but it had sturdy construction bout good as any saw ive seen. if i had to guess id say it was between 60-70 cc. looked tobe 1st class equipment. but if that guy gassed it up its probably hurt now. i checked the gas in the super 2. just plain ole lawn mower gas ,an not to fresh at that.. now that be a shame,, if he messd that saw up. but guess ill never know.:)

Any chance it's just oil locked? My XL will hydro-lock with bar oil in the cylinder, take plug out and see if it will spin.

yea i got it broke loose but the crank is broke now..hate to put anymore money into it as i got a good little echo 3000
twig clipper ,an its new. i just like the way the super 2 feels but imo quit foolin withum . they just gettin too old.jmo
