Jacking and felling large ash tree

@Huskybill are you still thinking of jacking that ash over? If it's dead I'd be concerned. I personally think dead ash is worse than dead oak in general. This White Oak had heavy back lean. I did not feel like pounding wedges, and surprisingly, the forwarder would not budge it. I keep the jack in the forwarder and was able to quickly cut a block out.

Lots of dead ash here in Michigan and to me it's the scariest tree to fell especially if you want it to go in a certain direction. Sometimes they crack break or snap when least expected. And you have to watch out for falling branches and tree tops. I have had hard dead ash while felling the whole tree breaks loose from the stump, the dead tree is hard as steel but the root system is dead and rotted.
