I've been building quite a fleet of Jo-Bu chainsaws over the last couple years. I keep pretty much everything I find as they are so un-heard of nobody wants to buy one. I like them and think they're quite an interesting chainsaw.

All I really know about the company is that it was based in Norway and that nobody sells Jo-Bu now.

What I want to know is: What happened to Jo-Bu?

Hello. I now that Mange and I would like to eventually see some pics of your saws if you could post some. Take care. Lewis Brander.

Jo-Bu was swallowed by E-lux, probably in the late 1970s, and disappeared as a saw brand.
I have been told that the factory is now making laminated Em-brand bars and the better quality electric saws for the E-lux brands, and some partsn and odds and ends.
I have no proof that the story is true though.

There is info on most Jo-Bu models on CSCC, but you probably know that (?)

The Jo-Bu M5 was used by the Norwegian Army until it was replaces by Partner R517T, R522 and P55 in the late 1970s.

Thats intersting. I assumed they must have been aquired by another company, figures that it was elux.

Heres a picture of what I could find. I think theres an L6, L8, L800 and a little frontier built SL2 in there.

Looks like you are right, but I am by no means an expert on Jo-Bu saws, and I dont know more anout the "L-series" ones than what is on CSCC.
