Is a John Deere 65EV worth anything? Saw one at a garage sale, doesn't run but pulls over.

Brian,

Does the 65ev look like this?

I'm not sure about the differences between the "SV" and the "EV", but I hope that the covers are the same. If anyone knows for sure, please chime in.

Drew

I would have to do some digging but the SV's were usually larger cc's than the EV's...I think the SV is a 65 cc saw and the EV is a 60 cc saw...

Similar yes but it is in better aesthetic shape. I didn't do a full memory log when I looked at it as I was only thinking of fixing it not comparing. But the fuel and oil fills ar int he same place, color scheme looks the same handle looks the same...

Outdoor,

Is it just the cylinder thats bigger on the SV, meaning the cases are the same. I mean, it's 5cc difference, you could make that up with a couple of cm on the P/C dia.

OK, I lied...The echo equivelent of the SV is the CS660EVL and the EV is the CS650EVL...The bore and stroke are the same and they are both listed as 64.2 cc saw...The only difference I could find was the carb...The EV used a hdb-11b and the SV used a hdb-17 carb...

A John Deere 65EV is a Echo CS-650EVL.
A 65SV is a CS-660EVL.

Both are 64.2 cc.

I don't remember exactly the difference between the 650 and the 660, but I know it isn't much. I had a 650 once and my uncle still has his 660, so I have at least seem em both.

There not worth alot, but the John Deere branded saws always seem to bring alot more then the Echo models.

That said, there dependable saws but also the weakest cutting 65cc saw that I have ever seen. And that's from someone who actually likes the older Echo's.

So the cases on a JD 65EV and a JD 65SV, would be interchangable?

Edit: by cases, I mean, the top and bottom clyinder covers would fit each other. On the 65SV, the entire top and bottom of the saw consists of two seperate pieces.

I'm not sure of the pieces you speak of, but my gut would say yes.

Pm me your email address and I'll send you both IPLs for you to check.

Now you will find out for sure. It's in a box and in my car, will be on it's way tomorrow during lunch.

Good luck

Only took the wonderful United States Postal Service 6 weeks to get the saw to Crane.

Now we wait for the results...I am sure he can beat the USPS.
