I have a 2065 jonsered which has the idle adjust screw vibrating out. It is the screw the throttle cable rest against. Has anyone had a similar problem? Would loctite work?
Thanks

Possibly but how worn out are the threads, does the screw wobble about if side pressure is alternately applied. If the threads are still quite tight then Loctite will work.

Are you running it without the screwdriver alignment tube that fits between interior of the airbox wall and over the three adjusting screws of the carb?

Part # 503 66 53-01

A lot of these carbs have a nylon "nub" in the screw block on the carb. These are designed to allow adjustment but hold the screw in place. If yours is missing the screw won't stay in place.

Hi,

Thanks for the information. There was residual debris on the screw. In was a dark grey. It appeared to be like teflon tape.

Hi,
Thank you for the information. There is no movement with side pressure applied. I will try Loctite and see what happens.
For Loctite to work correctly the carb and screw threads will need to be cleaned up of all oily residue, brake clean works really well for degreasing these small parts. When completely dried off the Loctite will adhere and do its retaining job.
