Hi guys, It's been a while since I visited the site, hopw my typing fingers still work. I got a Jonsered red 670 with a bad jug. I looked through the old posts for info that will cross it over to a husky saw. I see that some people say it is a 266 but are there differnces? I would like to buy one of the jug piston combos for the saw but the new "red" pricing is high. Do I have any options, like after market? please help the Hoosier!!

Did you here that a tree just fell!!!!!!!!!!!!!::biggrinbounce2:

As long as you buy the matching piston and jug set you should be ok, you also may be able to save the jug unless it has mechanical impact damage like a bearing or something.

The 266 and the 268xp both had the same basic bore and stroke. I have always thought of the 670 as a red and black 268 but the parts should interchange on all 3 saws.

Dont forget if you install a 266 or 268 jug,the intake system is different on those 3 saws.266 got a carb plastic flange,268 got also a plastic flange but of different from 266 and 670 is rubber intake. And if you ever use a 268 carb also, the idle screw is a different position .

On the 670 the vacuum to the carb is from the side of the cylinder via a hose to an inlet tube on the top of the carb. On the 66, 266 and other saws of this family the vacuum is through the manifold/plastic adapter directly into the front of the carb. Therefor if you use a 66, 266 cylinder on the 670 you will also need a 66, 266 carb and manifold/plastic adapter.

I have nice used piston and cylinder sets with the carb manifold on them. Let me know if you're interested.

I may even have a like new piston and cylinder set out of a 670 jonsy exactly.

Any danger in lightly honing the cylinder no major physical damage but some minor scrapes around the exhaust side. My piston has only one ring and I see after markets with two rings. Does mine have the wrong piston?? thanks the Hoosier

one ringed piston

I do not believe the two ringed pistons you have seen pictures of, are for 670's, 66's or 266's. I am only familiar with the one ringed piston.
