Exactly. I just think the price was high, I hope the saw runs great and he gets his money's worth. You know it could be worse, he could have bought a Stihl. ;)

Maybe the porting gains bring it up to about a 920 for power? Then, the price isn't out of line. Heck, the dang chain breaks go for between $40-50 if they work. The last 920 I sold went for $306 + shipping, but that was over a year ago......before the company executives took us to the cleaners.

In the 5 years I have had the chain brake on my 920, it has never deployed on me. I don't get how the bands wear out???

Stihls bring close to that not running. I would have a hard time passing a stock 056 up in the discribed condition of this. If it comes close to the discription I don't think I'll be hurt regardless of porting. Good used pro quality saws are hard to find around here for sale . I found that out when I desperately needed 1 and couldn't afford another new purchase at the time. I've been buying and selling used saws since as a sideline. Keep a good line up for my wood cutting jobs and sell now and then when I have 1 I don't need or too many.
I know this is an old saw and parts aren't readly availuble but I have other saws to fill its void if I need to hunt parts. Actually I don't go above my 044 90%+ of the time so unless a bunch of very big trees need cut up around here unexpectedly it will spend more time resting and hopefully I'll use it enough the gas doesn't get stale in it.
I sent the seller a ? regarding if the porting is factory or not . Has anybody heard of Jonsered marketing a saw designated "Ace" with the model # ?
Thankyou for all the replies and information. Any more will also be appreciated.
I would like to know just in case , if anyone knows if there is a set of rings availuble that would work on the 820 piston.

I have never heard of the "Ace" being marketed as a factory porting. There were some factory changes in the 920 line. The "Super" designation was added, but there were no changes in the saw, to speak of. Never heard of that on the 820, though.

I've never heard of an Ace either, but I believe the Supers came with the thin ringed piston. The 820 was available this way also.

I don't know about the thin ring defining the "super". I've had two 920's that I tore down that had thin rings and they were not "supers". Unless, the clutch covers were switched, I suppose.

Jonsered 820, listed as ported for more and better power for $265 w/ shipping. Got it buy it now and expecting it this week. Sounded like a very good deal to me so I did a short search here and bought it without asking any ?'s because I figured it wouldn't last long at the price.
Didn't find a lot here doing a search. Would like to hear some more about that model from folks that owned them. Looks to me they would compare well with the 056 stihl . Pro's and con's, any info or opinions about the 820 will be appreciated.
