I read somewhere that Jonsered and Husqvarna are one and the same? I know there both owned by Electrolux so it may be true.
Also what is the general opionion of Jonsered chainsaws?

They are currently made by Electrolux. Husky and Jred are the same right now, but at one time they were not.

The saws are pretty good. I had a Jred 670 champ, which is almost as powerful as a husky 372XP, but shares many parts with the Husky 266/xp series. great power, but the elux guys tend to be off on the weight specs, normally the published weight is about 1lb lighter than the actual saw weight from what I have heard.

Welcome aboard, Mo.

I can give some quick answers. Both Husky & Jred are owned by Elecrolux, but I don't believe that they produce exact identical twin saws (some parts can be swapped, but not all parts). There's a lot of info here at AS, but I don't have enough experience to properly summarize it. In general folks here like Jreds, but like all saw makers Jred has made some mediocre saws.

Try the search feature here at AS; you'll find lots of info on Jreds & Jred/Husky crossover. What Jred(s) do you have, or which one are you considering?

Chris J.

The main differences between the current Jreds and Huskies are plastic cover shapes and color schemes.

Besides being a bunch better looking than huskys, in the past jonseys porting had been different than on husky's and seemed to rev slightly lower, but basically the same saws. Take a look at the 2159 as an example its a real nice saw.

As previously said real purti too.

I don't have a parts list for the 2159. What parts other than the covers are actually different from the 359 Husky (prior to the new iteration with cat exhaust)?

Glen

Hi glen,
The husky dealer just changed again recently so I have'nt seen a husky 359 in the last year anyways but I believe the difference is mainly the compensating carb and the cat, not sure about porting also.

Husky keep changing their dealer here every other year, was in the new guys shop just last week and this guy knows zilch about chainsaws of any brand. Chainsaws are just an add-on to everything else he carries and it shows.

Jred is not well known here because the Quebec based ditributor will not put in the effort. Apparently, it is very strong in the east. As has been said, it is basically a rebadged Husky and is a good product.

Here you go Glens, knock yourself out.

Thanks, Mange.

It looks pretty much like just one of the attachments would suffice.

Suffice means:

Be sufficient; be adequate, either in quality or quantity

Ok, as in one of them (2159) would be enugh, for Glens.
I posted both incase some did not have any of them.

Mange, you did alright. People usually complain if enough information isn't posted and they have to go digging for it. It's good that the information you provided can be posted for those to see and draw their own conclusions. Thaks. Lewis.

I'm not complaining (though I would if they had been embedded within the post -- which is possible) that both files were provided.

My point was that the saws are so "the same" that only one parts list would be needed to order replacements (assuming, of course, that one didn't care about alternate color schemes and/or cover shapes).

Thanks again, Mange.

Thanks, Mange.

I certainly need, & can use, all of the information that I can get my hands on. Now, what the heck was this thread about?
