95vp !

...95vp is part of the low kick back family of chains
If that is the case - so are the Oregon LP chain in both .325 and 3/8", as they have the same ramp in front of the rakers. These ramps does not seem to have a negative effect on cutting speed.

I am pretty sure that the 95VP narrow kerf chain is faster cutting than the 20LP or 23RS on the Husky 350, as it is on the 353 (I have not done the testing myself, but the sourse is reliable). The 33LG should not even be in the same ballpark with its low-profile cutters, and rumour has told me it is beeing discontinued.

Carlton .325NK chain lack the low-vibe chassis of the 95VP, but otherwise I don't know much about them, as they are not sold over here.

Bailey's can't get the European muffler for the 350.
The part # supercedes to the US muffler.

A friend of mine is going to Sweden next week, he'll try to get one. I'll let you know what happens.

Hey guess what your are right, they stopped given the discount. Havent tried it since Dec 2005. Must have stopped the discount for 2006. Sorry for the bad info, but it used to be a buck off. Still cant beat the price, unless you make your own.
They had a dollar off sale during Dec. I bought a couple of chains that month myself.

What are your other saws? The 55 beats the 50 hands down, bad air filtration.

I only have the 350 for now, Im probly gonna get a 365 sometime here...... My stepdad has the 355 and honestly, I'd take my 350 over it any day of the week....... My saw cuts just as good as that one and weighs less and is overall smaller...... Bad air filtration? Im pretty sure they both have the same airfilter system not same part number but same style......

either way I like my 350 over the 55 rancher......

Unless you plan to go thru a lot of chains it may make the most sense to pick one up locally - getting to know a dealer has advantages and a chain will last a less-than-pro user a long time. But keep two...

I know they're not cheap, but I buy Stihl chains from my dealer, an 18" RS cost me $18. But I didn't pay shipping and they reportedly (here anyway) outlast other chains due to thier hardness - at the expense of being harder to file. As few chains as I buy the difference in price is moot.

Other than my dealer, I'd order from Baileys.

If I was using a LOT more chain I'd buy rolls and cut my own...

Congrats on the 350! Like the 025 I got recently - good price and a handy saw! Why should anyone care if 'you' own a saw 'they' don't want?

You had a good post going until that last comment. If it wasn't directed at me, oh well. First off, see the smiley? that's what they are for...sarcasm....
They are a great homeowner saw, no doubt. I have one, and have had nothing but problems with it. I had it fall off of the tail gate when it was 3 weeks old and crack the case.... not the covers, but the case. Sad part was, I didn't even get to knock it off, my father did. The new 455's are that way too, and I won't own another plastic saw. Plastic is for toys, or for covering up metal....

355? or 455? The 455 is a heavier pig with less power than the old 55 rancher. I would have taken the 350 over the 455 too, but would have taken the 353 after encountering problems with the 350 I have.

I swapped a 16" bar on mine (350) and it cut a lot better than with the 18". An 18" bar on the 350 and a 20" bar on a 455 is too big They will let you watch the grass grow while you are cutting, er, whittling the wood.

I have two 365's and they are great saws. They are quite a bit heavier than the 350/455's that you are used to, especially with a longer than 18" bar. If you are planning on running a 22-24" bar in moderate hardwood, I would recommend the 372, if you can still get it, or the Jonsered equivilant 2171. I run 18" bars on mine. They discontinued the 365 and 372 this year to replace them with EPA catted mufflers the 570=old 365 but heavier and the 575 is the replacement for the 372.

....Or you can upgrade the jug and piston from a 371/372 and have the extra power at the same weight. I just did this with one of mine. This weekend was the breakin test with a 28" bar in cherry and Elm trees both in 38-45" diameters. I was impressed to say the least.

It all depends on what you are using your saws for, a couple cords a year? The 350 will be fine, just keep the air filter clean and the right ratio of oil in the gas. It will last a long time if well taken care off. The best saw in the world won't last with poor maintence and a tank of straight gas. Just don't drop it....

Husky 355

I have "allways" wondered what the 355 was about, and when and where it was sold. Seem to have been a shortlived model - maybe for some special market or distributer
Judged by looks and stated weight, it was probably on the same platform as the 357xp/359 - and rated at only 2.6 kw/3.5 hp according to the manual I have seen (which together with an IPL was my only source to its existense before I read your post).

Bore and stroke is the same as for the 254xp, but with less rpm and power. It almost looks like they "reinvented" the engine of the non-xp 254 (or 154).:dizzy:

The manual on Huskys website is dated 2002 and the single IPL 2001, so it was probably released at about the same time as the 357xp/359, but left out of the marketing (?).
Only one IPL indicates a very short-lived Husky model, as they usually change them quite often.

I agree with you, except that the 455 in fact has slightly more power than the 55.
It doesn't really matter though, as the :censored: weight gains of the 455 are far more substantial.

sorry I hit the wrong button typing that......... Hes got the 455, Im not to impressed with it its got a 20 inch bar In the same wood I can cut much better than his with an 18 inch bar.... If I get the 365 Im gonna go with at least a 20 if not a 22..... But for now my 350 does just fine....
