Can't find my old thread, so I guess i gotta start a new one. Finally came up with a saw rack for the Suby. I sure like this little car. Good to get the saws and jugs out of the interior. I get a lot of funny looks with the saw rack and the Montana Logger's Association plates on it, lol - Happy Memorial Day - Sam

That's a pretty keen little car to cut timber out of. An old boy I worked with years ago made a falling rig out of a Subaru "Brat" and it worked quite well. He even had a little generator in the back that had just enough juice to run a chain grinder.

Brats are pretty nice little rigs as well, I believe a member on here uses one as a saw rig. I used to run a full size Dodge, but I got sick of the payments, insurance, and fuel bills. The little Justy does just fine, the four wheel drive is amazing. It will damn near drive up a slick wall - Sam

Brat

Yeah yeah! I'm gonna love this thread! I have a Brat that I use for my main crummy. I absolutely love it. 30mpg, little sum buck has plenty of snuss to! The only draw back is that all the women that see it immediately start flashing there ta ta's at me, and if they have rig enough, follow me home. This really pisses off the head cook at camp! :angry2: ha ha I will snap some pic's of it and post on here. It did look allot better before that deer ran into me though!:sad4:

Nice pics Sam. Like I always say, drive small, cut big!

I like that first picture...calks and Coors. Just right.

I went to a smaller rig, too...a Tacoma. We call it the mini-crummy.

Sam I can't help but hear "Magic Carpet Ride" looking at those pictures lol! Then of course the sound of a saw and tree that goes thump plays at the end.

There was a faller on a fire who drove a brat. His reason? One of the fallers who rode with him in a bigger rig never contributed to gas money or shared his ride. With the brat, the cheap guy either had to ride in the great outdoors in the back, or go in his own rig. The other faller, who did contribute, had the shotgun seat. He was over 300,000 miles on that brat.

I do not trust my Outback much. I think 1998 was a year of a lemon. I'm on my 4th alternator, the cam seal blew, it gets lousy gas mileage, so it is my winter local car.

The fallers for a helicopter side here were from Montana and Idaho and they did not carpool. They drove nice new, full size pickups, and I had to cut out a parking place for me. How times have changed.

.....2?

Gologit, what do you have there? 460/660 combo? I am just curious what kinds of primary/backup saws you "Pro's" run :msp_thumbup:

Looks like a 660 and a 361. 361's are bad ass little saws done right. Especially when the snow gets past your belly button.

Nice set up Bob. I may have a Tacoma in my future - Sam

It's a 660 and a 361. I was cutting firewood the day I took that picture and all my work stuff was still in the pickup. The saw rack usually has two 660s on it.

I run 660s. No special reason. I'm just used to them and kinda know what they will and won't do. I started with Stihls years ago and just stuck with them. The one in the picture was worked over just a little by TreeSlingr. He does fine work.

I keep the 361 for firewood but there have been a few days when it earned it's keep on the landing, too. LOL...knot bumpers are death on saws so I designated one guy that I trusted to run it. I must have scared him a little 'cause he sharpened it and wiped it down with a rag at the end of the day.

My wife has a little MS170 and since I bought it for her I can't get her to quit cutting long enough to pile brush. Big mistake.
