I am just curious what some of you guys do that have been climbing for years and years... I have the hardest time keeping my throwline from turning into a friggin pain. Seems everytime I use it I end up with a tangled mess. Rope I can deal with. Any of you guys work out a killer solution, oh, apply the K.I.S.S. logic, I am not the brightest bulb on the block.

:blob5:

I flake the string into the cube, disconnect the ball, put the end of the line through one of the handles on the cube, then set the ball on one side of the cube. This side becomes the bottom after the cube is folded.
If you leave the ball on the line when you store it, just drop the end of the line into the cube, or let the ball slide back and forth over the flaked line in the cube, it will tangle.

Also, thiner line will tangle more than thicker stuff.

Thiner line, higher throw

The one I use mostly is 100' of 2.2mm. That seems short, but it does most of the work.
When I get out the 150' or 200' footers, I know I'm risking getting the ball stuck and multiple missed shots, plus greater chance of tangles because of thin line.

oh yea, interesting mate.
I think i use 1.75 zing-it. Gets tangled 1/30 throws probably less than that.

Getting your throwball stuck

I use a 6-pack cooler from Wal-mart. It has a hard plastic shell on the inside and a zipper lid.I flake the line inside and put the throw-bag into a zippered pouch on the outside. It works really well. The last time I used it was to place a pull line into a dead pine tree. I got the target limb on the 2nd try,65ft,16oz bag, about 20 ft back from the trunk of the tree.(no Big-shot) :p
