Just curious. This is an easy to tie friction hitch. Many folks using it? Pros/Cons, opinions/facts, likes/dislikes.

I like it much better than using a 6 coil prussic when the need arises to do some footlocking on doubled rope. The Klemheist not only advances easier, but breaks and releases it's grip on a rope if you have to take a quick breather or stop to work the knot pass a limb or small twigs.

The only disadvantage I have seen with it is when your advancing the knot a little on the loose side and have to stop, it might not grab the rope right off the bat and may slip a little before it catches.

The Klemheist is a easy knot to tie and is easy to learn how to tie correctly. Also, it has other applications other than for footlocking.

What are you using it for?

If climbing is what your thinking, as in general work positioning climbing (not ascending then changing to a diff knot) then it sucks. Check out a VT or one of its varients. Or
a distel or swabish.

Personally I use a 4 wrap 3 cross VT, works like a charm.

I use a Klem (I abreiviate because i use both varients) for footlocking, balancer attatchment, Pully attatchment and a lot of other things.

Ok. All noted.
Referring to use in descending as a backup to the figure eight as well as an adjuster to a second attachment point while climbing with spikes and wire core lanyard.
My background. Hobby climbing and D.I.Y.er. I try to keep equipment needs relevant to amount of use. PLs dont take that the wrong way, my gear is good just dont need a whole lotta fancy.

Footlocking double rope is about all I use it for.

I love the Blakes hitch, uses the same size dia rope as your climbing line, use the tail of your climbing line! Doesn't need much tending, make split tails from normal climbing line, doesn't bind up, easy to tie and it's a nice big fat knot that's easy to find and grip ... slides really well, I really think for climbing it can't be beaten.

I prefer this knot for my footlocking prusik simply because it is much faster/easier to tie and untie.
