Not really Mike, it would be DBabcock, since he has assumed over 80 different user names. I don't think he was ever DBabcock though. I think he started posting as John Lambert who was really Ginger I believe.

Treeclimber165 was old Rocky J but who counting his posts anyway. Keep up the good work Master. It's one thing to have someone post who knows what they are talking about. RJS doesn't come close to the MB

:D :) :(

Mike at least when I took the top out I remembered to cut ABOVE my flip line and TIP and not below it:D I do however agree that you should be tied in twice but hey what can I say?

Mike, I'm sure that you don't always follow ALL of the climbing protocal. You are so nit picky. As for the remark aboubt my climbing skills? Who are you to make that kind of remark? Yes I should have been tied in twice, yes I NORMALLY do tie in twice. I bet if asked some of the other guys on the site that they would tell you that they don't ALWAYS tie in twice when running a saw in the tree. As you can see in the pic I posted of me in the poplar I AM TIED IN TWICE, and yes I worked the entire tree tied in TWICE.

Hello Ryan, Mikes just toying with ya. After all Mike has the distinction of being the most dangerous to himself and others than anyone in the biz. Isn't that right Mike?
Just stay safe Ryan, and that means making yourself as comfortable as possible, wether it means no hardhat or what have you. We know you love your job, so you will be alright. You are made of the right stuff. No need to prove anything to anybody.
John

I've been thinking about trying one of those but I don't do alot of climbing anymore. Mike, mostly when I climb now its just to set a pull line (norrmally the main line on the skidder:D ) I don't normally top even one tree a month anymore:rolleyes:

Top one tree a month? Ryannn *lol *jk Mikes right about that pic. whats up with the no hard hat man. you cant tell me that you work in a woods with no hard hat doing logging jobs. ? isnt the PPE you wear on the ground good enough to take up a tree with you? espechially a evergreen where you dont need to leave the main stem. And to not have a double tie in and be running a saw just inches from your tie in you do have. Not a good idea man. Accidents do happen and they happen fast and unexpectedly . hence the reason they call them accidents. get yourelf a copy of the ANSI standards and the tree climbers companion and brush up a bit on the latest and greatest man. the work in which we do is dangerous enough when done right. dont become a victum of your own stupidity.

I do wear a hard hat on the ground. I just don't feel right climbing with the same hat, it doesn't feel right not to mention that when I lean my head back it just about always falls off:rolleyes:

Wow thats a spindly tree that sucker must have swayed back and forth climbing it. You should buy your self a excavator (trackhoe) with a dangle head processor you could have cut it off at the butt dropped the tree in the street delimb it and chop it into short lengths :D

A faller that was doing some trees (ones I didn't want to drop) was fussy about his climbing ropes he did have a safety line with him. I watched him climb the big cedars they were just loaded with branches it took him a long time to get to the top. The trees were around 2.5-3' at the butt 55-60' tall nasty leaners they had to use a 23 ton excavator to pull on them with a cable. The faller that was doing the climbing broke his little saw so he was climbing with a 036 with a 28" bar on it.

Myself I don't like heights so I don't climb trees if I have to climb them gotta call a person that climbs. I get 2 rungs up a ladder and my knees start knocking

Myself I always use ear and eye protection when I'am doing anything with my saws. I know I get lazy and not put on the fallers pants if I have a little bit of bucking todo.

I feel nothing can replace your hearing or your eyes I'am only 28 and I have lost part of my hearing from working around heavy equipment. Even with the lawnmower I will put on my green Peltors.

I can't stand working around equipment or saws with out hearing protection.

The singing does not bother me during the day, but at night when I go to sleep, the radio has been a good help many years now.
