Thank you for posting these pictures and share informations. Could you do this tree by climbing to?
I have never used a lift. Doing this work since 2003. Sorry, I don't want to seem proud. But a bucket lift, I don't know how it would pay here!

yes you could climb it would take 5 or more days this one with the bucket was 3 days I have ben climbing starting in 1973 still climb 4 days a week

I apologize that. I did not want to make somebody low, either me high. These pictures are impressive.

You climb since 43 years? I guess this keeps you in a good condition. I always thought how long I could do this. Here I can see it is possible to do this work four days a week in an age of about 60 !? This is amazing!
It is an encouragement.

Thank You!

(Sorry I don't know another way to copy! I am new in this forum!)

83 years! Great! I have still 36 years to go. That gives me hope! Sometimes children give the impression you get old.
But about the size of the trees. Coming from Germany and now living in Manitoba, the freezer of Canada I can't find very many big trees. In meters, how tall was this tree on the pictures? Here the spruce trees get to about 23 meters high, We have seldom oaks, only buroaks, they get to about 17 may be 20 meters. In Winnipeg I saw big elm trees, but this is 150km south of us. We sometimes have very massive Manitoba maples (Boxelder), high like 15m. But making very much damage if they fall on a house.

Nice work, with that much cutting, do you not have bigger saws? Looks like just 66's to me but I could be mistaken

Alot of rip cutting down the trunk which is tough slow going, could you not have done a vertical cut then chogged them?

yes 66.'s has a 36' bar and the 084 a 48' I due have a 60' bar for the 084

Ya, but, I've never yet spent hour after hour on spurs dismantling a large tree, and wished it had taken more time and effort to get it on the ground. ;)

I'm sure you do look back on the days with fond memories, Jeff.
Anyway, all youse that like to take extra time bucking vertical spars into firewood: all the more to you.

I can usually take it down in wood as fast as rigging, unless the rigging point is remote! I get what your saying though, in cases where bombing large sections is not a big deal. If its not firewood like pine gum etc I tend to take it out in 8 foot sections and load with the skid!

The fronds were ripe and luscious,,,they glittered in the moonlight. And called softly to Jeff like those sirens in O Brother Where Art Thou?
