hey guys a nieghbor of mine asked to look at a sugar maple close to the house, she claimed it had been struck by lighting and wanted an opinion. ive seen struck trees before and its pretty obviuos where it has been hit but could not see anything kinda due to some foiliage still on the tree so i climbed in and tried to investigate further didnt see anything but i did notice that on a couple leaders there are signs of sap flux or a smelly ooze coming out of the tree and darking the bark, one of the leaders was a larger one going towards the house already over a small deck and to big for removal because i think it would never heal over and rot the tree basically putting it on death row, just looking for opinions thanks
