strange question, but what does it smell like ???... cat pee or a #2 pencil...that will tell you if its elm or oak...I got a bunch of wood from an old lady last year. There were no leaves to help id when I got it. I cut a truck load and let it sit since last summer. This stuff is hell to hand split and has been split by wedge and sledge and still ain't easy.
