Slightly away from topic.........but I have a Poulan 25DA timeline question for you Mark. The Craftsman 2.1A/Poulan 25DA you sent me recently has the later style stop switch and muffler. However, it's 2.1 instead of 2.3ci and has a Walbro carb instead of the Tillotson HU (of course the Wally could have been swapped in). What year would it have been made? I see that it has the same style of black and white decals as my 1.9/XX (which does have a Tilly HU) without the green that I see in decals of later red Craftsman/Poulan saws.

Aaron the rebadged saws get tricky. Nothing seems to be set in stone and it seems Poulan was willing to make things special for there corprate customers.

Look at the top handle on the Craftsman and see the different shape on it. Craftsman saws were the only ones to get that handle as far as I can tell.

As far as I can tell the later 2.1's did get walbro carbs as well as the toggle swtch. Thats why I'm assuming that the Lil Jon is a pretty early design 2.1CI 25DA.

Maybe the Poulan documents I looked at were only pertaining to Poulan branded saws and actually may have produced the 2.1 saws longer for there relabled customers. Who knows?

Btw, I have seen 2.1 saws with the toggle switch alot, mostly as yours with the Walbro carb, but I have never ever seen a 2.3CI saw with a sliding switch. (yet)

mark,
you are truly one of teh guys on the forum who deserves the gift... that saw looks just like my 2.3/16...
kudos to the member who sent it to you, and thanks for
all the help you've passed on to me...
best of luck with it,
john

Why thank you sir.
OK OK I admit I sent the saw to Mark... JUST KIDDING, I have no idea who did, but he sure is one who deserves it. I most just read posts on here and occasionally post, but Mark is one of many who go the extra mile helping others with advise, part, and just being an all round good guy. Thanks for the story and please forgive my inability to resist being a smart AZZ. JR

And thank you too.

it heated my house for a year or two by itself till I got the money to buy a used 306A.

That was a good 2 saw plan for me for the next couple decades
.

That is so Freaking Cool Mark, no wonder the attachment and sentimental value!!!

Wow,,, I have to Agree with Jacob, J.s thinking,, You really deserve it,,, and the old school barcover just sets the combo off... rep for ya and if we knew who donated it he would get some serious rep,,, Always helping others out,,, I believe we are all called to do exactly that!!!!

Right you are, there are a great bunch of guys here, lots of folks helping each other out.

Yes but look at the bottom of the page as to what saw the Wright was based on.

That is a mistake as well as it list the S25 which would have been a 2.3CI saw.

Yes, my point was that all 3 are the same Poulan made saw.

Acres site also say that the M36 came out in 1973 and the 361 in 1976, so it hardly was a replacement.
I am starting to think different quality levels at more or less the same time. :msp_confused:

You maybe right about them being offered at the same time.

You missed my point though that the saw Mike listed at the bottom was not the same size displacement saw.

I actually know who sent that to Mark. I met the member and his wife while they were visiting Hawaii recently. Very nice couple. He told me about all Mark did for him so he bought the saw to try to repay him. Both deserve some rep.

Thanks,,,,,

We will take that tidbit of info under advisement:confused2:

Mark,

You dont know me and I do not know you, but you have helped me in my Chainsaw struggles, more than you know. I think that it is common for some of us that know some about saws but not to the extent that you do, to use what you say and be able to understand it. You have helped out alot of people.

Thanks

Lil Jon got a new home and a new job guarding the beer fridge.

Actually I just got a new camera today and thought I would try it out.

No thank you for the kind words but your giving me too much credit. I know some about the old Poulans and just enough about some others to be dangerous. :)

Besides this was to thank the unknown to everyone great guy who sent this Lil Jon to me.

I'm telling you what..

This place really has a great bunch of guys in it, and paying things forward seems to be the rule of thumb around here. This place really is a testament that good people are still out there in the world.

Mark, you've done a lot of things for folks on here, so you deserve any good thing that comes your way.

Obviously I've done a lot of very, very bad things. Someone gave me a MiniMac yesterday.

I got that point - just didn't see the need to comment further on it.

The Lil Jon is a cool saw anyway, and looks really nice in red!

I have to thank Mark for the little package I got in the mail from him today. I needed a new air filter and cover for my Echo 602EVL bow saw and he sent it out to me free of charge. Hopefully I will be able to return the favor.

Mark, that is a very nice looking rebadged poulan! I saw that on ebay and the first thing I thought of was that it would be a nice addition to your collection. You are a great guy and are always there to help when you can. There are plenty of good people on this site(including the guy who sent you that beautiful saw) and the bad apples don't last long around here, which makes this the best site I visit.......

Good greif, I didn't think you where that bad. You have got to be on the highway to hell to get that greif sentence. :msp_ohmy:

Thread Hijack Alert!

Mark, what is the small "saw" sitting on the fridge?

Oh thats just some little plastic toy the wife and daughter drug home from some garage sale.

I think it says Bosch on it.
