linden tree leafs falling off

Hello Everyone I Have A Friend That Has A Linden Tree. I Trimmed This Spring. He Called Me To Let Me Know The Leafs Are Yellow And Falling Off. I Had Gone To Inspect The Tree And Found The Leaf Are Falling Of And Some Type Of Insect Manny Small Holes On The Leafs. The Tree Is About 24 In, In Dia, What Do You Think
