Amoungst My Saws........Fool That Has Too Many!!!
I finally got myself a digital camera. The following are pictures of my homemade log dolly. The base is 24" x 36" 3/8 plate steel. The main tubes are 1 1/4" mild steel. This dolly has had some changes made to it since I first built it about 18 mos. ago. I had to add a few pieces of flat steel to keep small logs in place. I also beefed up the wheel mounts, they kept bending. I also added a handbrake. This handbrake is adjustable. With full loads it won't bring it to a sudden stop, but it will slow it down considerablely.

Nice job Rich.....looks like I found my next project:D Right now all I'm usng is a regular hand truck, 10" tires with a 700# capacity. The price was right and it's working fine....for now.

Log dolly

Rich,

I don't know if you can work this into your design.

If you do another one try to incorporate some type of fold out platform, like a feed sack cart.

The fold out platform concept allows you to get more of the lighter logs on the the cart than the coventional standard type dolly. I fashioned my home made dolly on this principle and it works great.

That brake is a very nice touch.

Rich,
That dolly looks awsome. You did a great job.

I bought the log dolly from Sherrill about 3-5 mo's ago. It's da bomb! Log rolling laborers will thank you.

Found one gate it wouldn't fit through, but overall it was a good purchase.

Great fabrication!

That brake is a very nice touch.

I think the brake detail is genius. Simple principle, been done since forever, but it's how you got there. Most clever.

You now have an extra employee on your team and you never have to pay him. He'll boost morale, will makes your other workers more productive and can, under good circumstances, be the star player. Congrats on hiring well. -TM-
