Has anyone ever built/fabed there own log dolly....for moving larger rounds around with...like the ones you see in sherrill and other arborist mags.
I started making one today, almost finished with it. I'll post some pics later tonight..
I got it to lift a 325 lb chest and moved it around in my yard to see how well it works..I was pretty impressed..
Anybody got any pics of home made ones

I've often thought about taking a small tiller maybe a medium too,and welding a dolly on the front on hinges. When it's loaded, tilt back onto the tiller and have a pre fabbed catch of some sort. Of course the tines would be removed for this contraption. I bet a man would have a nice lil work horse, but then again my Kubota is a pretty good lifter as long as i don't go thru a gate ya know.

the red bar on the front is detachable and adjustable lenth it will tilt like a dump cart when hooked to a tractor/ 4 wheeler...will give more imfo and details tomm. wife is yelling at me...

Something that we use on almost all of our crews is a small 4 feet by 8 feet four wheel wagon. The frame can be purchased for around $200.00. We then put a 1 inch square tubing frame on it with one foot side walls front and two sides back is left open. This allows us to roll bigger longs up into it. The bottom has 3/4 plywood so when we rake up the pieces don't fall through the bottom and the sides are expanded metal. We load these up with a couple thousand pounds of logs and then roll them out. They can be rolled by manual power but I prefer the little utility loader tractor. Saves less trips in the yard and it also saves the back. I will try to find time this morning to get some picts for you.

I almost wasn't even going to take these pictures. I went over to the Tree Service Employee Building and found a "junk yard" They have crap all over. So PLEASE Excuse the fact that it looks like a junk yard in the back ground. We just moved one of our other businesses out of this building and into one we just built next door and I hope they are just doing re-arranging. But here you go

The first is of a small endloader that articulates in the middle. Only weighs around 8500 lbs, and is narrow for tight areas. Hard to find item around here but a must have for large removals in tight areas

Next is one of the small wagons with a bunch of crap in it

The last one is of a skidder I built for a large 200 plus tree removal on a single property, no large equipment allowed. It is a trailer type with a 4500 lb winch which is covered by the tarp. We back up over the log, lower the winch which as a log tongs on it. Raise it up then the lower cross member has a hook on it we used a slipper chain to throw around the log and then lowered the winch to put the weight lower on the skidder and to take the wight off of the winch. The front has a jack stand that is round welded on it we then welded a nice tractor seat with arms on the top of the jack stand which allows the operator to ride in comfort and operate the skidder while the driver maneuvers him around. our intension was to make this a one man operation but time was cut down considerably by adding the seat and an extra guy.

One of our latest additions to the fleet late last year and has not been painted or made to look up to standard yet but is very functional is our log truck and large dump trailer. We can do lots of trees and only make one trip

We had a special hitch built to pull a fifth wheel trailer with this unit. We added a wood bed and side to the bunks for easy removal when we are doing a lot of log hauling from a site or project. For the most part we leave the sides and floor in place and use it as a box. This truck takes up a lot of space and turns really wide but it really cuts down on trips and with gas prices the way they are, every little bit helps

I actually got to try it out today....works great....

heres a pic of it in use...36"die x 30"tall red oak
