I did a stump grinding job on Saturday and asked them what they were going to do with the trunk. They had no machines and were going to have to cut it up firewood size to haul off. I had them cut it into two 9' sections and told them I'd come haul them off today (Monday). I believe they are water oak. 346xp with 18" bar is in picture for size reference. I had a heck of a time getting them on my trailer as my ASV RC30 will only pick up about 1,500 lbs. I was able to lift one end onto the trailer and then just push them up.

Hey very nice! That clear one especially looks like it'll yield some good boards.

Too bad that you couldn't do the milling on site. That would make them easier to move.

I see that the big one in the background has been partially milled so I am guessing that the picture is at 'your place' rather than the customer's site.

Yes, that's "Scott's Woodyard". lol

I have so much to do that I really can't spend all day at someone's house. Those logs will be put on the back burner for a while.

I did find a small rotted spot on that straight piece on one end. (middle) I don't know how far down it goes.

I did make little stands for them so they are off the ground and I washed all the dirt off of them. I also trimmed the side branches a little smoother. I was going to put some sealer on them today but have just ran out of day. Guess I'll do that first thing in the morning.

Good for you Scott!

Nice score of wood!

I was just mentioning to you about the weight of logs recently I think, it adds up quickly...REAL quickly...;)

Oh, I know. I cut trees for a living.
I guess I should have realized that...but as you very well know, there's a big difference in lifting entire logs than 16" bucked sections...even my 6,000 lb. forklift will be in trouble trying to lift a 30' section of 30"-36" diameter.

The good thing is that most logs can be cut into 10' sections, and while that can't be used for log homes, it makes very usable lumber to build with.

Damn those board you got are making me drool...
