I have an iron & Oak 26 ton splitter with the prince LS 3000 valve.

I just took it out of storage and found that the valve handle will be stuck in the forward position after activation without continuous pressure from the operator now and when it reaches maximum extension it then begins to bypass rather than stopping. The cylinder no longer retracts hands-free, it must be held constantly to retract.

I'm not sure if it's simple adjustment can be done or if this indicates something else.

sounds like trip has it figured out. ill second that. wouldnt be surprised if the spring was maybe broken or stuck in there from the corrosion too

It was never stored in the vertical position and it has the rubber end cap on the end. Is there a way that I can expect this. If I remove that rubber cap is there something to disassemble without special tools? I don't suppose it will make any difference to try adjusting the adjustment Bolt that controls the pressures?

If no adjustments were made since it was working right, then there's a deeper problem. Which new adjustments would just be a masking band aid for. If they happen to improve anything.

True. But where would one start to attempt to diagnose this? Change the engine and or pump, or valve?
