Browsing craigslist and saw this. Seems like a lot of machine for 400 bucks!

make / manufacturer: Home made

This machine 17ft long 8in I beam.
It has a 18hrse engine 2yrs old
New hydraulic pump &2 new hoses
The hydraulic cylinder came from out of a dump truck
Also has a 2000 pound wench for picking up the big ones. Must sell before 28 of the month $400

There was no pics with the listing. I'll see what I can find from the ad which is in Rockford Illinois by the way. I'm guessing this isn't one you'd haul down the road.

I have seen single axle dump trucks with a scissor type of hoist under the bed. I don't remember if the cylinder was single acting but it did act like one. (Power up and dump fluid when going down)

I would also check to see how fast (slow) it is. Being a home made deal like that, it's hard to say if the pump is big enough to push enough oil for the ram or not. Well, that and a lot of other stuff too. What scares me about home made stuff like that is that guys tend to just throw together whatever they can get their hands on without putting much thought into whether or not the components are compatible.

I think I saw this one up by Madison last year on Craigs list! Can't be 2 of them out there like this. There were pictures on the one I saw, beam had to be 12" wide, 12" tall and about 1" thick. Looked like way too much to be maneuvering around in most wood yards.

My Dads old Ford F 600 was power up, pull the plug down. I rigged load retainers so I could put 3 cord on it, with a retainer between each cord, so I could dump one cord at a time. Letting the bed down with two cord still on it was kind of touchy. If you didn't push that button in real slow, it felt like you got hit by a train when the bed slammed down, Joe.
