Log stand (DIY specs & details)

Question for the seasoned veterans who use log stands;

I am build a log stand, the peavey is done. Now the foot. 1st attempt the foot was way too long. Cutting it off and doing it again. What would you reccomend for length, thinking 6" maybe 8" long? Also, what is easier to "flip up" a foot that goes straight down or an angled foot. I see the straight down foot on off brands, stihl and log right seem to be @ ~45 deg angle.

Suggestions?

I have a Log-Rite add-on foot that I do not use. I'll get some measurements tomorrow and a photo.

Looks to be 45 degree angle, 10" wide, a touch over 8" rise on the angle. Ground was too soft in the woods by me to be of any use so I took it off the peavy. Hope that helps.
