Brian, you just expect too much out of people:p I've decided that most equipment operators just don't give a hoot.

There will be two sides to the story one could argue. One, the loader and bearing were very worn out, and the operator didn't know any different. On the other, the operator knew of the horrible rocking and banging each time he picked up a grapple full, and didn't care. Either way bad news. Strange the driver side broke when loading or unloading on that side, since when the loader and or load is swung that way, it puts the pressure on the bearing. I would doubt it was an owner-operator, as they usually have us replace all the bolts at the first sign of breakage. Did one two weeks ago that had two broken and two cracked. Owner-operator noticed it immediately, and brought it in after he delivered the load. Judging by the picture, looks like some pretty good wood, maybe figured the risk was worth the reward.

Last week on my log skidder the axle shaft started to walk out on me. No problem though Ed Heard made the 6 hr. drive and had it fixed in an hour.
Good to see you posting again Seth.
Anyway, the sawdust is flying, so I better go and meet the log truck before it starts raining again. 300 fires burning in B.C already, when last year this time there were only 50 burning.

it brings a lump to my throat when i see idiots abuseing exspensive equipmant like the loader in the pic..bring back flogging i say..or deduct half the cost from the operators wages.iv'e had guys who havent got the ball* to start up there own business and begrudge every bit of kit i buy and deliberatly bust things though not to the scale of that loader

Oh, but the boss can afford it
Sure he can, and money grows on trees too. Glad that wasnt my truck, I'd have just had his head on a pike for that.

I believe in catching the problem early and avoiding the big bills for repairs that could have been solved by simply inspecting the machine first and replacing a few bolts or some bearings in the first place. We cant all afford to fix or repair things like that daily because someone or other didnt take the time to check it for damaged parts.
