Hey, I thought I looked good on that ladder. I fired my groundie/wife after she took the picture for wasting time on the job. She sulked in the minivan the rest of the afternoon.

Wish I could see his face better, I've worked with enough idiots to possibly know him

Effed up thing is that I think I know who he is.. He failed to strap the boom on his ancient truck a few years ago and wiped out a light pole and his lift on Lynn shore drive where no trucks are allowed in the first place..... Swampscott/Salem line

new name same dummy? happens quite a bit.

been seeing a lot of new guys popping up. been traveling a bit to jobs and noticing more freshly lettered trucks than ever before

Probably because whoever was into snow this season made a ton of cash, including myself. I just paid cash for a new to me bucket and chipper lol...

just out of curiosity, did you keep the old name?

I didn't.. I decided to start over fresh, and name the business after my maternal grandparents. They are gone now and the name went with them, plus they played a major roll in raising me as a child so I felt it would be something nice to do. Plus, it's a good Irish name that should serve me pretty well in my particular area.

What's the issue here? Just that he's using a ladder? Just another tool of the trade. Tie in through your ladder and you aren't going anywhere.

Yeah, like mebbe the "certified arborist" (whatever that means) is using the ladder to install a birdhouse.

Thanks Jeff! It's good to be here.

It's the ladder, right?

Don't listen to me. I am a 'Bully', they say.
But yeah, it is the ladder,
The owner of the ladder is the one to blame tho, not the ladder.
The ladder was sleeping peacefully when he was awaken by the owner of him to go and stand at the bottom of a tree.
Such a strange position to be in be cause the owner was painter.
Jeff :tongue2:

The issue to me, and first saying that I have used ladders to access a tree, but never work of of, is that's the best pic he could come up with? Sorry, hack.

Watch this I believe he's a member here.

using ladders for tree work - YouTube

So basically there's nothing wrong with using ladders as long as you're not a complete idiot. How do we know that the guy in the ad is a complete idiot? I can't really see it too well but it looks like he's tied in. Honestly I think that Murphy guy is an idiot. (No offense Murphy but I've seen quite a few of your videos, and you come off as an idiot) NEVER cut with one hand? NEVER cut above your waist? That's not realistic. There's a reason we all buy top handled saws. Anyways,I digress, please tell me something specific that this guy is doing wrong. I don't see why he didn't just spike up the tree since he's removing it, but maybe we don't know the whole story there.

That's true. I don't know why he chose that pic, but I'm sure the general homeowner searching on craigslist doesn't have a problem with ladders in the hands of a certified arborist. If you aren't a complete moron, and have a basic understanding of physics, i don't see the problem with working off of a ladder. I've done it thousands of times and have literally never had an accident.

Lol you don't have to call me a hack, fella. I just have confidence in my common sense and experience to use a ladder without hurting myself. I definitely don't recommend it for everyone (morons) but I don't think this guy in the ad really deserves to have a bunch of guys on a forum calling him an idiot and what not for using a ladder that he's probably used thousands of times.
