i know this question has been asked befor but i have now ware local to get it from.

this is for my monkey ward's wd-99 soon to be hot saw.
it is only a 24" bar with oregon rolotronic tip.

i was unaware that 134cc is concidered small
i would convert but the clutch parts to convert my saw to .404 or 3/8's are next to imposible to find.

Once in a while you see that stuff on ebay. They don't call it race chain but...give Washington Hotsaws a call. Check out the Sponsor's Forums (on this site) and post on the Washington Hotsaws area. Also, check ebay for their contact info unless they provide it here.

I do not remember Dean ever listing 1/2" chisel.

Dean,

Do you have some ?

Why not .404 ?

because I run 3/8. O-N, 134cc is a very large chainsaw, however in the grand scheme of racing it is about average for a large class modified. My stroked EHP3120 on alcohol/nitromethane runs 3/8ths on a 12 or 13 tooth sprocket. Try to get with a local machinist to make you a sprocket or drum. You will spend less money and be able to run a fairly inexpensive chain. I've got 40 feet of 1/2 inch chisel, wouldn't sell it for the world. If you find some, be prepared to pay $4-$6 a drive link. I changed over my 325cc Rotax just for that reason. I now run oregon 59L (.404) on wood up to 16" and 1/2 inch above that.

I occasionally get 1/2" chisel chain. I do not advertise it though becasue I have a waiting list 6 people deep. If you want your name on the list give me a call or send me a pm and I will put you on it. The list is a no BS list though. IF I put you on it and I get some in and call you are agreeing to take it. I believe I have a loop of used 1/2" right now if you are interested. It needs some TLC and has some surface rust on it.

I don't think you can make chipper into chisel. It would be too thin on the inside and probably break, if it did not just grind through while trying to make it. Here is 185+ D/Ls of chain if somebody needs it. Mike

I've got to agree with Chopwood on this one... 1/2 inch is not what you want to run on that size race saw. Obviously the difficulty and expense of obtaining 1/2" race chain is a huge factor. The cost per loop (assuming 24" bar) is up in the $400 range the last I heard... and thats if you can get somebody to let go of part of their hoard. But beyond that its not worth anything to run it on that size saw because the weight etc.. of the chain would actually make you slower than if you ran a good 3/8 chain. You want the shortest bar that will cut the wood and light aggressive chain. IMHO nothing under 200cc would see any benefit from running 1/2".
