Bought a used Simington sharpener recently and got several rolls of chain with it. Looking for a good source of links to spin out some loops. Got a roll of 3/8 .063 full skip Stihl and two rolls of 3/8 .050 chain to work with.

Do your best to get links specifically for the chain you're joining. There can be subtle but significant differences between manufacturers & even between different profiles from the same brand.
I guess I should have been more specific. Looking for brands/vendors/ recommendations of good sources. Lots of info out there for sure on sizes, etc for different chains. Looks like a lot of link will work with the Stihl chain since their links do not change with different gauge chain . I will check with a local Stihl dealer with a very knowledgeable person too to see how OEM prices compare.

That is true, until it is not. There have been many changes in chains in recent years. Especially, with narrow kerf chains.
Presets can vary in several dimensions. If you only work on one model of one brand of chain, it’s pretty easy to find what you need. However, if you work on lots of different chains, be prepared for surprises: small differences matter.
I now have more money invested in presets, than I do in my spinner and breaker, if I had to replace everything!
Hardest part is keeping them sorted, so that you don’t end up with a loose or tight link, even if the rivet spacing matches.
I buy STIHL brand presets from my local STIHL dealer. Some Oregon styles fit. Some do not.
It can be a lot cheaper to buy a bag of eight or 10 presets from STIHL, then buying them individually. Buy a bunch, in case you make mistakes, or have to do an unexpected repair. Worth the wait if they have to order them.
Oregon style presets are more ‘universal’, because many other companies copied / adopted their chain designs and specifications (Carlton, TrLink, Husqvarna, most ‘no-brand’ chains, etc. ).
I still try to buy genuine Oregon presets. Most online dealers who sell Oregon chain have them. Shipping can be expensive for a small order like that, so plan ahead, and add them on to another order, where the additional shipping may be ‘free’.
