Just got some parts gaskets, carb kit, fuel line, and some other stuff for it in yesterday. I plan on putting the cylinder together with new rings tonight. I did get the Brake cover assembled.

I hope to make better progress this week.

You probably need to hone the cylinder since it is a steel sleeve.

Thanks for the pointer. I have already honed it. I am looking forward to getting it together.

How long did you let it cure? I have used it with no problems. My mono actually leaks gas and it hasn't taken any paint off yet. I let my paint cure for like a week though while waiting for parts to finish the build.

Are we talking about the Valspar or the flat black. I was eye balling the Valspar at TSC myself but don't want to waste my time.

Woodchuck, the Valspar is the yellow. It has been over a week now and I have started to put the cylinder together. I used some carb cleaner to do a touch up clean around the sealing area of the crankcase. There was no issue with the area when it hit the paint.

A little progress

Seems that time is at a premium lately. I had some time last night to get the cylinder assembled. I had the Clutch cover back together already. Here are some quick pictures I took with the phone this morning. I pop the plug into the cylinder so that nothing I don't know about will get in there. The piston is turned to the point where the ports are blocked.

Looking good.

Make sure that the oil line that goes through the the top of the oil tank has a tight fit in the hole. If it is loose the manual pump will just push air by the oil line into the tank instead of pushing the oil out to the bar.

Be carefull with that paint, I tried it and watched the gas peel it right off the saw. I ended up redoing my SP60 with automotive paint.

Something I've done with motorcycle gas tanks is to use PPG quik clear right over the new paint. It should be thoroughly dry before starting and maybe use a 800 grit or finer sandpaper to lightly scuff it before applying the clear. Mix it with a hardener. It will be fuel resistant then.
