nope, no double D... He's got a MIA H-side is what it looks like.

Easiest option is to find a fully adjustable 6400/6401/7300/7900 carb

I'd love to tell you which tool, but I'd need to see a better focused picture, maybe one taken in the camera's macro mode. In addition to my little flat blade screwdriver, there are four other carb adjusters in my tool kit: Husqvarna/Poulan spline, pac-man, single D, and double D. Maybe it's a pacman or single D. The notch on a pacman head is difficult to see, even in good focus.

See examples here:

they just changed all those numbers for the tools again went to order a second set as back up and had to fish around trying to find em. they make no if ands of buts about it they do not want anyone to have them other than shops. the echo tools are like $70 for the pair but there anodized aluminum and steel vs the cheap plastic stuff everyone else sells. wish someone just made a changable head set for a 1/4" drive hex. would make a worlds of difference.

The special tool is for dealers only EPA rule not manufacturer.

Yeah, I always found that humorous. Think about it:

The vast majority of homeowners who own saws (and other OPE for that matter) take their saws to the dealer anyway because they're intimidated by anything under the saw cover. They're not interested in the tool.

The farmers, tinkerers, and saw professionals will adjust and modify their saws with or without the "special" tool (Copper tubing, Dremel cutoff wheel to make a slot, altering/pulling limiter caps, etc.).

Bottom line = it doesn't deter much. It's yet another big government solution that wastes a lot of money (mfg. R&D, parts, and assembly line changes--for compliance) in an attempt to solve a problem that is miniscule in scope. It's greatest effect is to make the regulators and lawmakers feel better and look like they're doing something to save the planet--after all we must do something. :dizzy:

I will try the pics again tonight. can a groove be ground in the end to use a regular carb screw driver?

Where there is a will there is a way... It all depends on how ugly the problem is and how dedicated you are.

That being said, about the tools... It won't ever matter if they try to hide the tools behind part numbers and I don't care how big the epa is they aren't big enough to see every Internet transaction that breaks their rules. If someone wants the tools they will find a way. Hell I might just use my mini jewelry bits to grind the right pattern into the cut off head of a old screw driver... $1 screwdriver to adjust epa carbs = priceless!

Just picked up a used 6421 and would like to put the big bore kit on it. I have noticed the carb can not be adjusted on the high side. Will this carb support the big bore kit? If not, which carb do I need to replace it with?

Has the 6421 an SLR muffler? If the answer is yes, try to change it too, or mod it!

Yeah I heard the same BS about the husky spline tool and I have one of those...

I just did a quick google search on this tool and found them for sale for $9.99 shipped. MakGuy and myself answered the OP's question correctly and there are people posting incorrect answers after that. Just do a little research and you can find this tool. Or get creative and make a tool or modify the screw that is there.

Also the PS-6400's DCS-6421's with a flat black hood and a decompression valve on the top right of the cylinder have fully adjustable carbs just a special tool needed to adjust the HS. LS needle takes a standard carb screwdriver.

Just pick up a Walbro HD 12 from a Husky 372. Better carb and bigger to boot. You can pick one up on the Fee site for a little more than a 2 carb kits if you are patient. I've got an HD12 on all 4 (1-6401/7900, 2-6401 BBK, 1-Solo 665/681) of mine.
