Being new to this forum I havent read to many posts yet (I will in time though). What I am looking for is a shop manual, parts list etc. for a Stihl MS310 .I own 2 of them and one needs a new piston . My local shop told me it wasnt worth it for them to do the work. If I could fix it myself I could at least use it to flush stumps etc.

to start, the 290/310/390 are the same series saws. only real difference is the top end and sometimes a carb.
I would recommend reading threads about rebuilding the 029/290 and conversion from 029/290 to 039/390. not many threads about the 310, but its the exact same saw as the others except for a couple parts you were needing to change anyway.
you might think about making one of your 310s a 390 for just a few dollars more.
They are not the easiest things to work on, think near complete dissambly, but with time and patience, its not hard.
just type 029 into the search box and sit back and read until your eyes go crossed!
