Thanks. Baileys was the only place I knew of. I will look at those other vendors now. Unfortunately I bought a 576xp from them today for my brother.

It's a clone. Not the same quality. Not the same quality wheels.

See PM sent.

We use it pretty much daily and I have no complaints. I've probably sharpened a couple thousand loops on it.

The grinding wheels it came with worked fine though I put CBN wheels on it and an Oregon grinder we have setup for doing depth guages.

I like that it has an up travel stop, where the 2 Oregon grinders we have don't. Otherwise they are pretty much the same.

Matter of preference.

Some guys are happy with $100 chainsaws. Some buy the cheapest chains they can buy, and love Harbor Freight tools. If you want an inexpensive clone grinder, there are much cheaper ones ($70 - $100) on eBay: search for 'Laser Chain Grinder' or 'Electric Chain Grinder', etc. These are a long way from the grinders that the OP listed in the thread title.

I have found big differences in the quality of grinding wheels and how they sharpen; similar to the differences between sharp and dull chains. If you just add in the cost of 3 replacement wheels to that TimberTuff grinder, you are already past the cost of the basic, no frills, full-sized, Tecomec grinder on eBay.

Some guys here on A.S. love their clone grinders. But a lot of them have commented on inconsistent quality, and on modifications, adjustments, shimming, etc.that they needed to do to make them work better. We have many threads on this (note: 'Northern Tool' sold some of the early clones, and a lot of members used that as a general name for clone grinders):

Tips for using the 511A / 511AX / 520-120 style grinders, including adding upward travel stops, can be found in this thread:

Thank you all for the tips and help. I really was clueless. I look forward to not having to drop chains off at the shop anymore.

Thanks for the help every one. I ended up with the Oregon manual lock. Got it mounted today at what I believe to be a comfortable standing height. Need to add some lights and run power but that’s simple. I kept it on a 2ft wide and 20 inch deep board so I have room to place objects if needed. I can make adjustments as needed. 948FDDAD-7E13-453B-998F-08268297D9BD.jpeg
