Mcculloch 300 repair

Hi y’all, I’ve just gotten into antique chainsaws. I’ve recently acquire this mcculloch 300. It’s been sitting in a barn for 30 years. Had some tank corrosion seems to be mostly clearing out.

The recoil won’t retract. Any pointers? I understand parts aren’t easily found so I’d like to fix it without breaking anything else in the process.

The carb will likely need a rebuild but nothing I can’t handle.

Oil. Lots of oil. With the ones I've messed with I'd just soak them with b'laster. Maybe pull the cover off and clean out anything that has piled up in there too.

Call me crazy but have a bunch of the old McCullochs. Take the starter housing apart, remove the rewind spring thorougly clean everything, including the spring reassemble with a new rope and it'll last another 50 years. You can usually find parts on eBay.
