Just picked up a free McCulloch 47. Was told that it ran last time it was used...not quite sure how, seeing as the starter does not seem to rewind, but whatever. From what I can see, with only a cursory inspection, it seems to need the starter cord rewinder replaced (repaired?) so it will rewind, and needs an end cap for the air filter. Otherwise, it seems complete.

I've never dabbled with old chainsaws, but I'd like to try to get this thing running again. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated - parts lists, exploded view drawings, info on people who have parts for these, etc. Similarly, any do/don't do suggestions would be appreciated, too, as I don't want my ignorance to screw this thing up too badly.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you folks can provide!

A model 47 is an old early 50's geardrive heavy as lead saw.It was made from'53 to '56 and tips the scales at 30 lbs .I have the IPL on micro fiche but not on paper where I can copy it.Ozflea,on this site may have the download on his site.My suggestion is to repair the starter and go from there. You might get lucky :)

If you PM me your email address i'll send the IPL in pdf format but the file is large 4.25mb's so i hope you have high speed internet or else you'll be there all day downloading it.

Mc Bob.
