been lurkin' round here, been skeered to poke my head up :msp_wink: i've had my pappy's 'ol yeller 710 since he let me take it home back in early 90's. had a big ice storm in 2000 an cut trees outta the road, driveway, pasture gates, highways..... hell we cut trees errywhere:msp_biggrin:
'ol yeller made it fine 'til the guts blowed outta the muffler, it still cut fine for limbin an toppin but you hang it in big wood an not only will the noise knock the bark off the tree,it'd get so dang hot it boiled the gas in the tank .
i snagged a stihl to finish the ice storm with an been runnin' a couple of 'em ever since, but .......... it sure would be nice to get the 710 fixed up. Pappy used to cut logs on the side even after i was born. he started in the log woods when he was 11 drivin' a single up skiddin' logs, he's 85 now an i still ask him to tell me those stories about "back when".

HE IS STILL MY HERO:clap: i'd like to get his old saw fixed up if i can, any help is most appreciated. thanks

Glad to hear you have your Pappy's 7-10. Best bet is probably to post in the "swap meet" thead, and check out chainsawr's online store (he's a site sponsor). Other than that, feebay's always full of 'em. X-10 series saws are always loud, even with some of the garbage can mufflers they tried. A blown out X-10 muffler would ideed blow the bark offa tree. Make sure you click the "Stickies" thread at the top of the Chainsaw forum index. Cick the "McCulloch Chainsaws" thread and do some serious reading. Post up and say hi. Show a pic of your saw. You stand a good chance of getting more help there. That's where us Yellow Fever carriers hang out.:D
