If I have my dates worked out, Robert McCulloch was building the 2, 4, and 6 cylinder drone engines as well as engines for Reed Prentice (saws) before he started building his own brand of chainsaws. Then...McCulloch - Black & Decker - Shop Vac - Employees - Jen Feng (other than Europe)/Husqvarna (Europe) - Husqvarna world wide.

According to a quick search, 72 In³ / 72 HP...

I saw a guy carry one of these from a vintage sled swap in St Germain Wisconsin on Sunday. Wish I had seen it first!

rwoods I will let everyone know when that happens. If I had one more week, it probably would have been completely ready. Time to work out such bugs can be an issue.

Super44, I took two 73's and made one runner about 4 years ago. Old school carb, rotary valve...somehow it runs good. Don't think I would ever do it again though. Lots of old torque at 120cc's. I may have some left over parts.

Some old crusty 890 that I came across. It now wears a 58" rollernose bar. I've yet to cut wood with it so we shall see if it needs to be repaced by a more modern Mac like a 321620150607_200338.jpg20150607_200356.jpg

I have gone through a 77, much like a 73 and definitely old school as ikeholt mentions.

I have a pair of 73's that both have issues but I am hoping one day to make runner from the two of them. Some parts are still out there if you are willing to do some searching.

The 77 is a strong runner indeed.

Nice!!! I for some silly reason figured I needed a Mac that left the factory the same year as me. Turned out to be a 73 so I got one about a year ago and have yet to put gas in it. Very much looking foreword to hearing it run but I have a 125 that I need to finish first.

Now your talking about my favorite type of saws. I have a strong running 73 i run now and then. All I've done is rebuild the carb and oiler and it runs great. Powerful saw indeed and i enjoy eating wood with it. Gotta love the H&S spike. They are around here and there but the 77 is much harder to find. Im still looking for a 77 to put in my collection. Found a few but too expensive or locked up. One day ill find one i find everything else it seems.

I was given an 805 the other day. It was in pieces, boxed up. Someone had taken it apart and must have lost interest. Pics coming, I'm curious as to the condition of the cylinder.
