When in doubt get the big guns out!
I had my 125 with a long bar out to flatten off a large stump last Friday. The tree had over 60 pieces a metal in it that I found when splitting it and there is still some in the stump. I got lucky and missed them "this time".

The 23-24 firewood season is over without me. Maybe Brian and I will back in 24-25 with some antics to entertain our fellow MAC friends.

In the meantime, I am restocking supplies. My wife was out of town today, so after church I dropped by a regional flea market. A table of Stihl chains in dusty old boxes caught my eye. I walked away without haggling with 9 boxes of 138 DL .404 RS, a 108 DL of .404 RSK, and an 80 DL loop of .404 RS for $130; a total of 1430 DLs or almost a 100-foot roll. The RSK will go on my PM800. The RS will be used on my SP125Cs.

Does anyone know the DL count for the black and yellow MAC branded 32" sprocket nose, 36" sprocket nose, and 42" hard nose bars?

Thanks,
Ron

I'm looking for some input/suggestions on a few of the 10 Series cylinder crankcase combo's I picked up off eBay a few weeks ago. These two are 82cc/2.06" bore cylinders, one is points only, one is points/electronic, both have the extra mounts on top of the oil tank for the upper shroud and anchor for the flywheel cover. Any ideas on a points version PM850?

This is an SP80, points only, and no mounts on the oil tank (the extra anchor points are on the manual oil pump). Clear enough

This is a late 7-10 or early PM700, points or electronic coil, rigid mount. Seems straight forward.

This one is a 54cc/1.75" iron bore points or electronic, no compression release. Where would this have been used?

Any suggestions regarding the applications for the 82 or 54cc versions are welcome. I have a couple more I'll present in a day or two.

Remember, the early PM850s had the two piece electronic ignition module, like the SP81E (been skimming the IPLs). For the 54cc block, looks like the the early Pro Mac 10-10 had either points or Electronic. Those would be my guesses.

This may shed some light on the 82cc cylinder ...

Hi guys, been a long time!!! I checked and found I haven't posted in 2 years!!!! Life got really busy for me and I didn't even have time to cut my own wood last year! I hadn't run saws at all until this past weekend. Took out the 7-10 as well as a couple clones (395xp and 070) and a trash picked Stihl 032AV. All ran great and I got a ton of free wood.
I even sent a few Macs to new homes lately. Sold off my SP81, PM700, 2-10, a couple of 3-10Es as well as a pair of 450s, my 380, and my Super 250. Still have a bunch and will likely start collecting again lol.

My 1-71,72,76,85 + the 440,640,740,790,795,797,Super 797,840,895 have complete & unbroken grills, but the 890 is missing theirs.I plan ordering one for it in a couple weeks when getting paid next....

Got it out and ran very well. Clutch springs are a little weak as it VERY easily spins the chain even just a hair above idle and my idle is just above a stall. Chain wasn't as sharp as I would have liked but I didn't pay attention when grabbing one off the wall and it needed some love.

I must say though, this saw is smooth. Like butter! With the added anti-vibe I could hardly tell it was an older saw and the powerband was so smooth and torquey even cutting through 24" of tamarack it didn't even bog once. I will get the chain sharpened and take it out again as I only made one cut and realized I had a bad chain. I think this might become a staple saw for me though. It just feels and sounds nice to run and honestly thats 80% of what matters to me.IMG_5844.jpg
