Couple more videos of my recent Macs.

First, the Super 55A. Gave me fits yesterday. Spent hours chasing poor running/intermittent misses and ended changing up nearly every ignition part except the spark plug. Finally quit when the recoil spring broke. This morning I slapped in a new plug and all the problems disappeared. :bang: Also, have the kart carby rebuilt and installed. Was able to find the right diaphragms and gaskets to make it viable. Strange thing, doesn't have a needle and seat like any other carb I've worked on--uses a little check ball instead.

The pintail chain on this is in poor shape. I sharpened it as best I could, but it is hard to make it cut properly. Not to mention, the bottom section of spike is broken off. That is why you see the saw slide around the top of the log.

Second, the Super 550. I put the story up here last week of how I got it. One detail I didn't mention was the seller and I were from different time zones and neither of us realized it right away. Only after I got on the tollroad did it dawn on me and I called him up right away. Suddenly I was an hour late, and he was an hour early!

Oh well, I ended up with this. Thanks to CPR for providing me with a better clutch cover. Randy won't want this saw--it has the East coast spike.

Here is the video of the 250, chain is about finished but managed to get it sharp, also jerry rigged a dawg on my broken clutch cover. I also forgot to fill it up as it ran out of gas in the second cut, they really suck the tank dry before stalling out.

Piston differences between 6-10 and pm700 saws

If I am correct looking at pm700 and 6-10 ipl's, these saws each used 85239 and 85240 pistons at some point and time. Does anyone know if this means that either piston would work in a pm700?

I have the 85240 in the garage. Got it hoping it would work with a 7-10 and it wont, the wrist pin is too small and in the wrong spot. If you measure your PM 700 piston I can confirm if the 85240 will work.

Beautiful saws Chris, I am jealous of course since I don't either one of them in my stable. cheapchainsawparts has the 4 tooth spikes for $12-14.

Brian - you know as much as I do now about 10 Series saws...

homelitejim - I know how big a 250 is, you make it look like me handling a 10-10. I respect you sir!

I know they are a PIA, been working on a 10-10 for months now, here and there when I get a chance in between other saws. Still dont have it running right. At this point I think the welch plug that cover the high speed circuit is leaking. When I took the carb apart this morning I found the plug had fell out LOL. Tried to seat it right but its still flooding out, just not as bad. So I am going to have to steal the plug from the other kit I have and try again. I hope the 7-10 goes a little easier LOL.

Yup, like I said, my numbers were hearsay. I trust the revs, but not the hp... Shifter karts are psychotic contrivances and he ran his in classes shunning aero. Sorta like WoO cars without the nun-hats. Y'know, like this.

Man, when BOTH front tires lift, ya hope they (crew) got the stagger right!! That's an awsome clip.

My adrenalin rush....

That is a Mac flatback carb. Should be able to get a kit from Sugar Creek and Mark H. has a real good thread link in his sig. for rebuilding those. I think they are easy to work with, after rebuilding a few of them I dont like messing with the other small carbs.

Sorry to interupt guys.
Here is another bumble bee - a Promac 5200 Super.

Goes nicely with the 6800.

Thanks Mark. I have a few spare 4 tooth spikes. This is the only 5 pointer I have so I'll keep it on the saw for now. (Guy before me bought it from the original owner (and had it for about 2 weeks) so this spike was likely original with the saw.

Put the welch plug back in and seal with fingernail polish. Tom

I read Marks thread and Suger creek was mentioned in the thread I did a search and could not find a link. Can anyone help?

I recently bought an e-Bay saw that was advertised as a 1-790, I read 790 and won the auction.

It arrived the other day and the tag was a little hard to read, at first I thought it read 1-70...but upon closer examination it turns out to be a 1-76. Not quite the 103 cc 790 I was hoping for, but at 99 cc and with 130 PSI it should be a runner when I have some time (ha ha). I need to replace the plug wire or change the coil, and certainly the carburetor will need going through (McCulloch flat back) but it should be easy enough.

I will get some photo's in a day or two.
