Yeah, doesn't work so well. I did find that it lists an AC cs45T, which is a NGK BM6F or DJ8J Champion. If your cylinder does not have the trapered plug hole, use something that has the washer/gasket with a similar nose design, not projected, and heat range, which translates to me as a 7 or 8.

Dat's right buddy!! Drive yer azz o'er dere and pickem up!! I am the owner of a Super 44A... that's the direct drive brother of that 55/S55/S55A that you posted...
I have cleaned off basically all of the dust and crud off of the S44A, and it's now awaiting some more work, like some cleaning up and a greasing of the clutch bearing and checking the points, etc. Then I shall check the Tilly HL87 over, and rebuild it if necessary, then throw it into that carb box... and see if she'll run!!
Then I will need an air filter and a air box lid that says S44A on it. Already got a bar and chain I can use.
Attention: The Super 44A is not for sale. Just making sure we're all clear on that.
I know how desirable it is because of the removable head, and kartability of it. When I first saw a pic of one here on AS, I thought "I'll never find one of those..." I never did... it found me. I just wonder how many Super 44A's and similar Macs have been torn down and the engine thrown onto a kart... it makes me cringe... not to mention many of those saw parts probably got thrown away...

Also think I tightened down the recoil to much and broke the spring? Im not sure Im gonna have to check it out. The recoil on this saw is very confusing
Its about 60% complete now didnt take the latest picture but gonna have to get back to the house to figure the rest of it out which might be a couple of weeks, right now heading to Indianapolis, then to Ohio loading up 21,000 lbs of peoples junk then heading to Philly wish me luck. By the way Mark, Im gonna be having my sister send out that saw for ya

what is the value of the saw in this video. i think its a 35 because my super 33 says "33" on the spark plug cover and this one doesn't say anything. anyway, someone offered my $150 for it and I almost sold it immediately but i got to thinking, "why did he offer so much for this saw". it is getting pretty hard to find one in running condition, maybe i should keep it? my super 33 is locked up.

Well Mac fans, the Super 44A has turned out to be one of those cluster####ing turds...
The clutch side of the crank is quite messed up, appears the key had been sheared, and continued use eventually wedged it in between the crank and the clutch hub... it's got a big ass gouge in it.
Will post pics tonight.
Probably gonna end up putting it back together to keep it complete, and after the 790 and some more projects get done, I'll pull the S44A out and tear it down and take the crank to a welding instructor I know, and have him weld up new material, and I'll machine it on the lathe at work to get the proper profile.
Meanwhile, I only have work until noon tomorrow... so I'll get home, eat lunch, and hopefully will go get some quotes on boring that 790 cylinder.
I may end up being sidestepped by the 317 that needs the new breather hose installed, and then mowing the lawn...
It depends on what my dad really wants done, I guess.

I drive by there 4 times a year going to work in NC. I was just curious, it always good to find people with common interest. I found a AS member that is north of me about an hour and has probably 100 saws and we trade quite a bit.

Specifically, the 10# of poop is the fuel pickup tampon that goes in the 5# tank on a Power Mac 6. I got the old one out, but sure aren't having any luck getting the new one in. There's gotta be a secret to it - I hope!

The muffler (and carb) are off a later series than mine, but the muff will work just fine, and the choke knob is on the carb. (Carb is an MDC1 on mine, the one you gave me is an MDC8, might work if my carb is toast, it doesn't look like there's much difference between em).
Oh yeah, the prize - it's a very artistic looking piece of varnish that came out of the aforementioned tank. Approximately 1" long by 3/8" wide, semi transparent brown. Winner pays only shipping AND handling. (Note that handling charges are measured in 12 fl oz increments, cans preferred but bottles are accepted)
