I bought this old 99 about 4 years ago as a post hole digger. It worked but ran really rough and eventually quit. I thought I would fix it up and start using it again for another project, but ran into a problem. Compression is great, but I have no spark. Does anyone have experience testing and setting up the magneto? I don't believe its generating enough charge for the capacitor/condenser. BTW I love your site, I stumbled on it by accident and have become obsessed reading the threads.

Pm heimanm I was lucky enough to be part of a 99 resurrection at his place last year. He'll be a great help as he's very knowledgeable about the yellow stuff.

Thanks for the fast response guys. I pulled the flywheel and magneto last night and cleaned everything. I also replaced the wire from magneto to breaker points, installed new points and set gap to .020 (not sure what is correct for this motor, but thought this should be safe). Still no spark. I'm reading about 6700 ohms through the magneto, so I'm thinking possible condensor.
