Is there ANY ryme or reason to how they attached model numbers to their saws????

For example: 123cc saws, CP125 and 797...where is the continuity?

I'd be interested in the history. Also how many numbers were assigned to the 123cc monsters other than 125 & 797??

the person most likely to be able to answer this question is prolly mike acres. don't forget the model 73 and 77 gear drives.. they were 120s as well... as to 797 there was a regular, and a super 797. i have not yet met anyone who knows what the super designation means..

Super 797 had a little larger carb flow capacity--very small difference at best & also had a greater exhaust flow due to inner top cylinder configuration---the differences are very small & really did not make a difference in performance---mainly just a "Buzz" work for sales means...:)

answer: No

how to find out, research and ask over and over and over again. I have asked to get a CD of Mike Acres site to make is easy to look up, no go. mcc, which doesnt really exist any more keeps none of that. You just have to find out on a case by cas basis as you need it. I printed out all the saws one-by-one. At least I can go look it up when I want. Thats what interns are for! OK I felt guilty and gave her an extra 20 bucks to do it for me.
