McCulloch pro mac 700

Hey.I've been reading your posts lately and just signed up.Great site,a lot of useful information and help as i've seen.l am from Greece so you have to excuse my english and some questions about the terms you use.my story with the yellow beast begins back in the 80's when my father bought it from a sailor who brought it back from u.s.a.I was ten at the time and several years later it was my turn to bring firewood at home and i got the mac.I have used it for many years and at some point the piston jummed.i gave it to a mechanic to fix it and he replaced the piston ring and the piston.i am not sure about the piston because now that my mac is resting in a box in pieces,i saw the piston had scratches in both sides ( inlet and excaust) and after cleaning the top i saw the ipl number.Anyway the saw was working and several years later it wouldn't fire up.i went to two mechanics and they said they could not find any parts for the saw.One of them told me i had to replace the electronic ignition.I bought a husqvarna 450e and my mac ended in the selve until i found your site and thought that i might be able to rebuild it.I will need your help because i am not much of a mechanic and first i'll need a service manual and what ignition number to look for.mod 12-600061b.Thanks for your time

Thank you ray.i hope it wiill help me understand more the procedure of the rebuild but with the first look i thing it's for earlier models. I have a parts list,don't remember where i found it, that refers to pro mac 700 models 11,12-600061a to d.it has all the diagrams and some specs.i don't know khow to put it on the site.maybe i could send it to you.any suggestions for the ignition coil? Is the mc 283875 suitable?the ipl number for this part was 92785

Sent you the ipl and service manual for the 600061b , the 92785 is the part number in the ipl I sent you.Got the info on proper ipl and service manual from a 1998 McCullochs publication guide and was the same in a 1987 publications guide. You can send me your ipl in the conversation ( in your inbox) with me.

Ray i'm not sure if i managed to send you the file.let me know if i did.l'm no better with internet and mails than i'm with chainsaws.the ipl you send was correct,the service manual was not refering anything for the 700.i thing it was for earlier saws with break points and condenser.maybe i'm wrong but i saw very little parts that match with mine.

No I didn't get the file. The only other service manual I have for the 700 is a small Clymer manual. You could ask in the McCulloch thread if anyone has a manual.
