McCullough Timber Bear

Well, as the title states. I've got a timber bear but that's all it says and I'm having a heck of a time finding any specific info on it. Had it running last year but any time I needed to fill up gas and bar oil, I'd have to change the spark plug in order for it to start again. Basically, I'd have to carry two plugs. Seems that the plug gets too hot so swapping it allowed me to shut it down otherwise I'd need to keep it running to fill fluids and that's just not safe. Also, if there was any bar oil in it when I'd put it away, it would soon be in the case and all over anything else if it was real full. So questions are 1) what causes the spark plug to get so hot 2) is the oiler repairable or will I need to replace it. Would also love to find an IPL.
I will say that on the saw it reads that there's a 16" 20" and 24" bar option. Other than that I'm unable to specifically ID this saw. Thanks in advance Joe

It's the same in appearance but does that mean it's actually the same saw?

Yea they made a billion of them. They went to timber bear and eager beaver for there saw names for awhile.

So it is the same thing just branded differently?

I have pro mac 610s and 650s but the saw is slightly smaller than mine by a few cc's. They look similar just the timber bear was more like a home owner saw than a pro saw for the time period.

It's a good saw ours cut alot of wood. Plenty of threads on those saws on here

So that takes me back to the reason for the post. What causes the spark plug to get so hot and what's the adjustment process for the oiler? All I can guess is mines wide open or something.

Oiler is automatic with manual override. Probly seals are toast. Are you running the right plug? Plugs get super hot after a min or 2 of running you can't touch with bare hand

There should be a tiny screw somewhere on the clutch side of saw it will tell you what way to turn to more or less flow.

There's no adjustment screw on the clutch side. Only screws I see for oiler is on top.

As far as I know, yes. I should probably add that this was a buddy's saw and he ended up getting fed up with it and have it to me. Well, it was actually something like "take that fkn thing with you or on gonna pitch it"... So yea looks like I've got another saw .
I do understand that it gets hot within a few moments of running but I'm saying that unless I put another plug in, it won't fire until it's cooled off for a good half hour 45 min. Although I may have jumped the gun with the sparkplug issue. I'll report back after I get it back together and running to test it. After the literal 5 pounds of oil soaked sawdust being pulled out, it may have just been an airflow issue.
